Virginia Privateer Schooner York was commissioned on 13 April 1782 under Commander Isaiah Keel, possibly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was reported as being armed with fourteen guns and as having a crew of forty men. York was bonded for $20,000 by one Bristol Brown (as agent for Keel) and James Hunter of Richmond, Virginia.1
