The 60-ton Maryland Privateer Sloop Washington was commissioned on 3 August 1778 under Commander John Burrows1 of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.2 She was reported as being armed with eight guns, with six swivel guns, and a crew of twenty men. Her owners are listed as Isaac Van Bibber, David Weems and John Muir.3 Washington was bonded for $5,000 by Burrows and co-owner John Muir.4 She was sold at auction at Philadelphia in 1779.5
