Comments:
The [Pennsylvania] Privateer Ship1 Warrior (Commander Jacob de Hart) is only known from the British records of the New York Vice Admiralty Court. De Hart commanded several Pennsylvania privateers: the assumption is that this one was based in Pennsylvania.
Warrior was at sea about August 1782 with a cargo of flour and bread.2 She was captured by HMS Centurion (Captain S.W. Clayton)3 and sent into New York and tried and condemned there. Warrior is described as an American merchant vessel with a letter-of-marque.4 On 28 September 1782 the Royal Gazette carried a notice of the auction of part of her cargo, to be held the same day.5 The first publication for prize shares was in New York on 6 November 1782.6
