Virginia Privateer Schooner Venus was commissioned in March 1782, probably under Commander Thomas Ogborne. She was listed as having fourteen guns and seventy-five men in her crew. Venus was bonded for $20,000 by Ogborne (by which we conclude he was the commander) and George Nicolson, possibly of Richmond.1
