[unknown] Privateer Brig Vengeance was at sea in 1780, part of a group of eight privateers operating together. These were the South Carolina Privateer Schooner Cassandra, ship Marquis, brigs Trooper, Adventure, Randolph, and Betsey, and Maryland Privateer Schooner Young Neptune. The squadron had a set of common signals, which were captured when Cassandra was taken by HMS Bristol.1
