Massachusetts Privateer [Brigantine] Thorne was at sea about September 1780 under Commander Philip Aubin, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, when she was captured by the Grantham.1 Thorne, here spelled Thorn, is listed in the High Court of Admiralty records in the years 1780-1781 as an American merchant vessel. She was tried and condemned.2
