Massachusetts Privateer [Brigantine] Thorne was at sea about September 1780 under Commander Philip Aubin, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, when she was captured by the Grantham.¹ Thorne, here spelled Thorn, is listed in the High Court of Admiralty records in the years 1780-1781 as an American merchant vessel. She was tried and condemned.²
