Comments:
South Carolina Privateer Brig Polly was commissioned on 12 December 1776 under Commander Paul Preston.1 She evidently made a voyage to the West Indies in the winter of 1776-1777. On 9 March 1777 she was at Turks Island, when a small tender from HMS Badger, with six 4-pounders, three swivel guns and twenty-five men under Lieutenant Philip Trott RN, slipped in and captured her. She was sent into Port Royal, Jamaica.2
