Comments:
Andrew Groundwater was commissioned to the South Carolina sloop Peggy on 17 August 1776.1 This commission however, seems to have been as the captain of the sloop as used in a trading capacity by the South Carolina Navy.2
South Carolina Privateer Sloop Peggy was commissioned on 23 November 1776, under Commander Thomas Cheney.3
Peggy was said to be active in 1777, commanded by Groundwater, and then followed by Cheney again.4
