New Hampshire1 (or Massachusetts)2 Privateer Ship (Brig) Eagle was commissioned on 17 June 1780 under Commander William Groves3 of Beverly4 (or Salem), Massachusetts. She was listed as having a battery of twelve guns and a crew of sixty-five men.5 Officers aboard the Eagle were First Lieutenant Jesse Fearson, Second Lieutenant John Harris, Master Jacob Oliver (of Beverly), First Mate Philip Richerson (of Beverly), and Prize Masters Joseph Knight, Aaron Lee, and Paul Foster. Eagle was owned by James Lovett and Moses Brown.6
She was captured by a British cruiser on 21 July 1780.7
