Comments:
Connecticut Privateer Boat Betsey was commissioned under Commander John Barlow of New Haven, Connecticut. She was at sea on 18 December 1780 when she captured the 70-ton sloop Tartar in Oyster Bay, Long Island. Tartar had a cargo of provisions and dry goods and was bound for New York, New York. She was taken in and condemned.1 This may be the Betsey recorded as captured by the British in March 1781.2
