Rhode Island Privateer1 Sloop Batchelor2 [Bacheller] was commissioned under Commander William Ladd on 27 August 1776. Her owner was listed as John Collins.3 She had been at sea seven days when she spoke Massachusetts Privateer Sloop Warren on 17 September 1776. She first chased Warren several hours, firing at her twice, thinking she was a British vessel.4
