Pennsylvania Privateer Ship Anne was commissioned on 15 November 1780 under Commander James Josiah of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was listed as being armed with ten guns and having a thirty man crew. Her $20000 bond was executed by Josiah and owner George Henry, of Philadelphia.1
Anne made a voyage to France while under Josiah’s command, but no details are known.2
Anne was re-commissioned on 7 January 1782 under Commander John Ashmead of Philadelphia. Her battery and crew remained the same. Joseph Brown of Philadelphia served aboard as First Mate under Ashmead. Her new $20000 bond was executed by Ashmead and Robert Knox of Philadelphia.3
