Comments:
Pennsylvania Privateer Brigantine Ajax was commissioned under Commander John Harr of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 6 January 1781, with a bond of $20000 being given by owner Wilcocks and Harr. First Mate John Ute was also a Philadelphian. Ajax had a battery of eight guns and a crew of twenty-three.1 This vessel was taken by the British in 1781. Her High Court of Admiralty records indicate she was a re-capture, formerly being a British merchant vessel.2
