The 45-ton1 (or 48-ton)2 Massachusetts Privateer Schooner Adventure was commissioned on 8 September 17793 under Robert Newman of Beverly, Massachusetts.4 She was listed as being armed with six guns and eight swivel guns and as having a crew of thirty-five men.5 Her Continental bond ($5000) and Massachusetts bond (£4000) were signed by Newman and by Larkin Thorndike and Sewall Tuck of Beverly.6
