The 34-ton1 (or 48-ton)2 Massachusetts Privateer Schooner Adventure was commissioned on 11 May 1780 under William James of Beverly, Massachusetts.3 She was listed as being armed with six guns and eight swivel guns4 and as having a crew of twenty-five men. Her Continental bond ($5000) and Massachusetts bond (£4000) were signed by James and by John Dyson and Benjamin Goldthwait of Beverly.
