Maryland Privateer Schooner Adventure was commissioned under Thomas Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland, with a bond of $5000 being given by the commander and owner James Williams of Annapolis. Although the bond was given on 20 October 1777, the commission to Robinson was not issued until 24 January 1778.1 She was noted as having one howitzer and a crew of seven men.2
Adventure was captured by the British about 1781. Her High Court of Admiralty records refer to her as an American merchant vessel. She was said to be a re-capture, formerly being the William.3
